Welcome to The Clark Scholars web site!!
The Clark Scholar Program is an intensive seven week summer research program for highly qualified high school juniors and seniors.
- The Program at Texas Tech University helps the Scholars to have a hands-on practical research experience with outstanding and experienced faculty.
- The Scholars will receive a $750 tax-free stipend and room and board.
- The Program includes fun activities, weekly seminars and field trips.
- This Program provides opportunities for research in all academic areas in the university. (click on Research for list of all research areas).
- Program duration is from June 22 - August 6, 2009 (dates to be announced)
- Applications must be received by March 6, 2009 (including Evaluation forms).

- Tong Zhang has been named a semifinalist at the Siemens Competition. Tong worked in Mathematics & Statistics with Dr.Chris Monico.
- George Huang has been named an Intel Science Talent Search Semifinalist.
- Tara Viswanathan was chosen as one of two delegates from Texas to participate in the United States Senate Youth Program.
- George Huang and Joanna Yang were both nominated for Presidential Scholars.
Past Scholar makes a donation to the Program endowment fund
Ms. Amy Huynh, Clark Scholar in 1999 and 2000 has made a very generous donation to the Clark Scholar Program. We are very grateful and appreciate her support.
Congratulations to George Huang, Nico Barawid and Sarah Shareef who were semifinalists in the Siemen's Competition:
- George Huang worked in Chemical Engineering with Dr. Ted Weisner.
- Nico Barawid worked with Dr. James Carr in Biological Sciences.
- Sarah worked with Dr.Jean Strahlendorf in Physiology.
Nico Barawid who worked with Dr. Jim Carr in Biological Sciences has had the following accomplishments:
- Siemens-Westinghouse semifinalist with his name appearing in the October 25th 2007 edition of USA Today.
- Neuroscience Research Prize (one of 10 national finalists)
- Intel Science Talent Search semifinalist in 2008.
