Welcome to The Clark Scholars web site!!
The Clark Scholar Program is an intensive seven week summer research program for highly qualified high school juniors and seniors.
- The Program at Texas Tech University helps the Scholars to have a hands-on practical research experience with outstanding and experienced faculty.
- The Scholars will receive a $750 tax-free stipend and room and board.
- The Program includes fun activities, weekly seminars and field trips.
- This Program provides opportunities for research in all academic areas in the university. (click on Research for list of all research areas).
- Program duration is from June 25 to August 9, 2012.
- Applications must be received by February 3, 2012 (including Evaluation forms). .

- 2011 Clark Scholar William Liu has been accepted to Stanford University.
- 2011 Clark Scholar William Liu has been named a semifinalist in the Siemens Competition. William was mentored by Dr. Harvinder Gill in the Department of Chemical Engineering.
- 2010 Clark Scholar Carla Javier joined a team of women in Hollywood aged 18-50 to make three documentaries on domestic violence. Carla's team is Team Give Hope and is sponsored by MaryKay Cosmetics.

- 2010 Clark Scholar Carla Javier has been named a Presidential Scholar Semifinalist. She will be attending Princeton University beginning fall of 2011. Carla was mentored by Mrs. Susan Talkmitt in the College of Education.
- 2010 Clark Scholars Laura Xu, Youyang Gu, and Brandon Sim were regional winners for the Toshiba/NSTA ExploraVision competition. Laura will be attending Princeton University fall of 2011. Laura was mentored by Dr. Ted Wiesner in the Department of Chemical Engineering. Youyang was mentored by Dr. Harvinder Gill in the Department of Chemical Engineering and will be attending MIT fall of 2011. Brandon was mentored by Dr. Soyeun Park in the Department of Physics and has been accepted to Harvard fall of 2011.
- 2010 Clark Scholars Jai Sajnani, Nikita Desai, and Youyang Gu are Intel Science Talent Search Semifinalists. Nikita was selected as a Regional Presenter at the Northern California/Nevada Junior Science and Humanities Symposium. She will be attending Stanford University fall of 2011. She was mentored by Dr. James Carr in the Department of Biological Sciences.
- Jai Sajnani, Nikita Kansra, and Youyang Gu have been named Coca-Cola Scholar Semifinalists. They are among the 2,000 chosen out of almost 70,000 applicants. Jai was mentored by Dr. Siva Vanapalli in the Department of Chemical Engineering. Nikita was mentored by Drs. Jorge Iber, Sean Cunningham, and Randy McBee in the Department of History.Nikita will be attending Harvard University in fall 2011.
- 2010 Clark Scholar Kaixi Wang is attending Yale University. Kaixi was mentored by Dr. Scot Dowd in the Pathogen Research Laboratory. 2010 Clark Scholar Dongyang Cheng will attend Harvard fall of 2012 after taking a year to climb mountains, sky dive, surf, and work as a volunteer. Dongyang was mentored by Dr. Petros Hadjicostas in the Department of Mathematics & Statistics. 2010 Clark Scholar Pavel Panchekha is attending MIT. Pavel was mentored by Dr. Rodger Barnard in the Department of Mathematics & Statistics.
- 2009 Clark Scholar Madeline Sides was awarded first place for her project "A multipringed investigation of the amphibian pathogen Batrachochytrium dendrobbatidis" in the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF), often called the "junior Nobel Prize". Madeline was accepted to Stanford University and will begin fall of 2011. She has taken a year to live in France and do an additional year of high school through the Rotary Club. - 2009 Clark Scholar Jonathan Zhou was a finalist in the Intel Science and Engineering Fair. Jonathan was mentored by Dr. Wayne Lewis in the Department of Mathematics & Statistics.
- George Huang and Joanna Yang were both nominated for Presidential Scholars.
